52 in the Year of 52 --- #hike5

So happy to get outside on a crisp sunny day after a wild night of fun!
With our fearless hiking club leader leading the charge we set out on a new hike at the Meyer Preserve found on the hiking project app!
Lots of leaves on the ground! Be careful. No need for a snack, this hike was a couple of hours. We took a few wrong turns...but nothing dramatic. We only saw 3 other hikers in the two hours we were out there. Sunny day, hat...no gloves.
So...have you ever been out late night and mention you need to go home because you are hiking in the morning? Shocked by people's reactions? Some people say, wtf? You are crazy! Others say, wow great, I want to hike, count me in (these are the midnight hikers)...but then you never see them again! And then there are the other few show up with a smile...(these are the AM crew members) ❤️💪🏻❤️

Hike 5:
5 miles
559' ascent/descent
Poles needed
Well marked
A bit slippery this time of year
Beautiful views

Good looking AM crew ... The midnight hikers not pictured here! ;)
Forgot my hat...had to improvise with my buff!
Only incriminating myself from the midnight before!

Happy hiking mama! Always.

52 in the Year of 52 --- #hike4

This week's hike was the fiercest mental hike I have done ever! I walked blocks in heels and marched blocks in sneakers, I looked for the good in everyone, I cheered with pride for what I believe in, no matter whom I walked or marched amongst... I felt alone between two opposing mountains...Although I met and spoke with great people on each mountain, I was so gd mad and  surprised by the intolerable hypocritical disdain on one mountain and not surprised by the tolerable dismissiveness on the other.
I purposefully went on #hike4 to better appreciate, understand and love both mountains.
My #hike4 was another life changing experience for me.
What comments you leave and read below will reveal who is who...and why I am exhausted...
The Inauguration 2017
Sooo happy to see Caitlyn there, couldn't resist a heart to heart.
Title 9 (for the 9 represented on my hat) passed on Capitol Hill in 1972...it needs more elevation now more than ever...
Women's March on Washington 2017
This many voices passionately feel unheard, under appreciated, scared, unsure...
One of my all time favorite signs! I have been imploring you to watch this movie for 10 years...and here it is now our reality! Watch "idocracy" !!!!!!
My second favorite sign...

My sign:
I Walk, I March, I Love, I Listen, I Take Action...
I am Bi...Partisan...hear me roar!

52 in the Year of 52 --- #hike3

Well this was an action packed hiking day...some miles and some smiles were covered!
The day started with a 7:45am departure with my long time hiking bae!
Equipped with coffee, directions and our layers we drove to take on Breakneck Ridge in Beacon, NY
The first hour is vertical rock scrambling...reccomend gloves, no poles needed for this hike!
Views are amazing!!
We took the white trail, to red trail to the yellow trail ---
This is the BEST marked trail we have been on in a loooong time!
2 hours 45 mins
1200+\-
Peek a boo! Hope you are not afraid of heights...don't look down...
Been trying a few hikes in fleece lined tights. Liking them better than hiking pants.
After we walked back to our car, parked on the side of the road near trail start on 9D we stretched a bit and got back on the road. We would totally do this hike again, maybe add on another yellow trail out and back extension.

No rest for the weary...back home, quick lunch and back out with my daughter to meet up with friends for a wonderful snowy hike through Babcock Preserve.
FYI, don't panic but it's not well marked but beautiful.
2.5 miles
Cloudy and snowing
Smiles and miles! #getoutside
